College Introduction

International College of Guangzhou College of Commerce (GCC) currently provides 11 undergraduate-level programs, including Finance, Accounting, International Business, Logistics Management, Financial Management, Software Engineering, Business English, Internet Finance, Intelligent Science and Technology, E-commerce, Marketing, and 7 junior college programs, including Big data & Accounting, International Business, International Finance, Business English, Visual Communication Design, Marketing, and E-commerce. International College of GCC now has students of 3,140. We have established cooperative relationships with a total of 96 well-known universities in 15 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong and Macao region, jointly carrying out multi-modal international collaborative programs, forming an internationalized educational layout combining associate degree students, undergraduates and postgraduates. We are one of the undergraduate universities in Guangdong with the highest level of international education. International College has a highly qualified faculty. 100% of the teachers have obtained master's or above degrees, and 90% of them have overseas study experiences. Supported by a team of young doctoral teachers and a sino-foreign collaborative teaching team, the faculty has advanced teaching concepts, rich teaching experience, and solid teaching skills. The teaching team has won the provincial-level project approval for the language teaching team of sino-foreign cooperative education, and has led students to participate in multiple national and provincial competitions with fruitful results.

Teaching Facilities

With high-quality educational resources of GCC, International College has built a dedicated modern teaching building with nearly 50 air conditioned multimedia classrooms, multiple lecture theaters and experimental training rooms. The classroom is equipped with movable tables and chairs to support teachers in carrying out diverse teaching activities, and intelligent teaching facilities allow students to receive premium education and to experience a teaching environment connected to that of foreign universities. Various types of practice rooms and experimental training software meet the practical teaching requirements of multiple majors. The coffee shops and beverage shops built in the teaching building create an elegant environment and a relaxed learning atmosphere for students, enriching their extracurricular life.

College Characteristics

After years of effort and refinement, our college's international educational characteristics have gradually become prominent, forming three distinct characteristics of international education: "experienced", "comprehensive", and "excellent".

 

The first characteristic is “experienced”. In 2002, approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, GCC signed an agreement with the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, to jointly organize the undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education program of International Accounting, which is the first undergraduate level Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in Guangdong Province.

 

The second is “comprehensive”. Our school has signed cooperation agreements with more than 96 well-known universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan and other countries, to jointly carry out various forms of international education programs, such as “Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Program”, “Double Degree Program”, “Chinese-English Bilingual Innovation Class”, “Junior College - Undergraduate Program” and so on. Therefore, it has formed an internationalized educational layout combining associate degree students, undergraduates and postgraduates.

 

The third is “excellent”. GCC implements refined management and provides personalized services. Our school has a strong IELTS team, which can provide customized services for students who are going to studying abroad. Equipped with professional consultants, we can provide one-on-one visa services and guidance for students, with a visa approval rate of 99%.

Achievements and Honors

In the past 20 years of internationalization, GCC has cultivated graduates of 17 international programs. Over 40% of graduates in the past three years were to obtain master’s degree overseas, while 54.8% of graduates upgrading to master’s degrees have been admitted to top 100 universities of QS World University Rankings. It has been particularly prominent in 2019 and 2020. In 2019, 67.3% of graduates upgrading to master's degrees were admitted to top 100 universities of QS World University Rankings, and in 2020, 91.7% of graduates from the sino-foreign cooperative education program pursuing master's degrees were enrolled in top 100 universities of QS World University Rankings. With development of more than 20 years, the internationalization of GCC has made remarkable achievements. GCC was selected as “Sino-Foreign Partner College with National Brand Competitiveness” in 2017 and “Vice-Chair Member Organization of Branch for Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, Guangdong Association of Higher Education” in 2021.

 

In recent years, the International College teachers have made fruitful achievements in teaching and research. In November 2020, the Guangdong Provincial Quality Engineering Project - Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Language Teaching Team Project was completed; In September 2020, the provincial specialty major Accounting was established in cooperation with the College of Accounting; Over 30 core journals were published; More than 20 provincial and municipal level research projects were approved; 2 members from our faculty was awarded the honorary title of "Excellent Teacher in Southern Guangdong"; 7 translated works has been published; More than 310 awards in disciplinary competitions, 49 provincial awards and 22 national awards were obtained; 1 key project of the "Climbing Plan", and 4 general projects were approved.

Coventry University is one of the most highly praised universities in the UK by overseas students. In 2020, Coventry University ranked 15th in the UK in the Guardian ranking.
	International Business	4 years; "2+2" training mode		"2+2" mode is adopted for joint training with the University of Adelaide, and double degrees from domestic and foreign universities are to be awarded after students obtain required credits and meet the requirements.	The University of Adelaide is one of the eight prestigious universities in Australia, ranking 106th in the QS World University Rankings in 2021 and 80th in the USNews World College and university rankings in 2020.
	Finance
	Accounting	4 years; "2+1+1" training mode		"2+1+1" mode is adopted for joint training with Curtin Singapore. After obtaining required credits specified by both schools, students will obtain the bachelor's degree certificate and the undergraduate diploma issued by GCC, and the bachelor's degree certificate and the master's degree certificate issued by Curtin Singarpore.	Curtin Singapore provides Australian model university education for local and international students. Curtin University ranked 180th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in 2017, ranking in the top 1% of universities worldwide, and Curtin University Business School was certified by AACSB as the best business school in the world.

Students can go to Tencent's upstream and downstream enterprises for practice and internship, and they can choose those enterprises as their employment direction, achieving high paying employment. Alternatively, in the final year, students can choose to study in overseas cooperative universities and complete the required credits, to obtain double bachelor's degree certificates from domestic and foreign universities.	Tencent is a world leading Internet technology company, with leading technologies and multi-level practice training platforms in cloud computing, Big data, artificial intelligence and other fields.
Chinese-English Bilingual Innovation Class	Accounting	4 years; "3+1" or "4+0" training mode		"3+1" is adopted for joint training with multiple foreign cooperative universities. After completing the required credits and meeting the conditions, students can be conferred double degrees by domestic and foreign universities. Students can also choose the "4+0" mode to stay in China to complete their major courses, while taking on a minor. After completing all credits of the major, students are eligible to obtain the bachelor's degree certificate and the double major diploma from GCC. Upon graduation, students who meet the requirements for upgrading to a master's degree can go to overseas cooperative universities for master programs.
