Excellent Graduates - Firm the Faith and Forge Ahead, from GCC to Columbia University

Congratulations to Zhou Yidong, from International College, who was admitted to Columbia University and other famous universities for master's degree.

Zhou Yidong, from Guangzhou College of Commerce-Bellevue University 2016 Sino-US Double Degree Program (Logistics Management), has an average cumulative GPA of 4.0/4.0 with a TOEFL score of 105+. As a member of APICS in Bellevue University, the winner of Dean's list (7 semester), with excellent professional achievements, Zhou has received offers from Columbia University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Rochester, etc.

For students: Students who think they have a good mathematical background can choose GMAT, and those who like to memorize words for English reading comprehension and have a certain mathematical foundation can choose GRE.

In GCC, we shall establish goals and lay a good foundation.

Teachers in our school have given me great encouragement and confidence in my study, so I am very grateful to every teacher who has helped me and really appreciated me. The former two years in GCC are the happy ones. There is no pressure in my study and life, and the relationships between me and my classmates and that between students and the teachers are very simple. I hope the students who are still studying in GCC can cherish the present happy time and I sincerely wish that all students can treat each professional course seriously and diligently and lay a solid foundation for the future. Maybe some specialized courses don't seem to be of great use at the moment, but as time goes by, you will find that any knowledge you have learned may play a vital role in the way you think and even in your future work. In addition, a solid knowledge base can ensure you a very good transition and convergence to the foreign courses.

In Bellevue, we shall overcome difficulties and broaden our horizons.

Students who are about to study abroad, I hope you can make full preparations. When you go to a foreign country, you will find that foreign transportation, food, culture, living habits, interpersonal communication, etc. are quite different from those at home. At the same time, you will become more independent and self-reliant without the support of your parents, relatives and friends at home. Therefore, I suggest that when you go to a foreign country, try to jump out of your comfort zone and try to meet all kinds of challenges in life. On campus and in class, chat with people from different countries and cultures as much as possible and make friends and contact with them. During such a process, you will find that the world is so big, and how interesting and meaningful it is to collide with people from different cultural backgrounds. In this process, I believe your English delivery will be improved rapidly, which will be of great help to the subsequent language exams.

In the US, schools and local communities often organize various extracurricular activities to invite students to participate. I hope that everyone can participate in various activities and experience different foreign customs and cultures on the premise of completing the assignments assigned by professors on time and with high quality. These interesting and unforgettable experiences will play a key role in polishing and enriching your resumes and personal statements when you are applying for postgraduate programs. Besides, professors in Bellevue University are all very professional and kind, and they welcome different questions and discussions, so don't feel shy or timid about asking them questions. Maybe after discussions, we will have more amazing ideas than the professors do. Moreover, in group presentations, we should try not to rely on the scripts. We need to show ourselves as much as possible and try to make more eye contact with the professors to show our sincere research attitude and full preparation, so that the professors and classmates can know us better. In this way, the professors will have a unique and deep impression on you, which will also be helpful for the recommendation letter you need when you are applying for postgraduate studies in the future.

Messages and blessings to students:

Studying and applying for postgraduate programs are both very long processes, but you should always know what you are pursuing, so that you can make the right choices in the face of all kinds of temptations, and at the same time, you can go on firmly in the face of setbacks. I wish everyone healthy and work hard to achieve your goals and realize your dreams!
