The Second Conference of the Principals of the First Council of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education Successfully Held in GCC

    On June 25th, the Second Conference of Principals of the First Council of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education was successfully held in GCC. This conference is sponsored by the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as the Branch), hosted by Guangzhou College of Commerce and co-organized by South China Normal University.

     Present at the conference were Li Shengbing, Chairman of the First Council of the Branch, Executive Dean of Teacher Education College of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in South China Normal University, Wu Jianli, Consultant of the Branch, Dean of International Business College of South China Normal University, Executive Dean of Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Dai Shu, Vice-President of Lingnan Normal University, Gu Yang, Associate Vice-President of Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Xiao Songshan, Assistant President of Tianjin University and Party Secretary of Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute, Tianjin University, Zhou Eryong, Executive Vice-President of Guangdong University of Science and Technology, Yang Li, former President of Neusoft Institute Guangdong, Fu Ailan, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai, Lin Wenkai, Vice Dean of Teacher Education College of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of South China Normal University, Zhu Jianzheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Scientific Research Department of Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Zhang Zhiwan, Branch Secretary and Vice Dean of the China-US International College of Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, Zheng Changqing, Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Faculty of English Language and Culture of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. As one of the vice-chairman units of the Branch, Zhang Yan, He Bailve, Li Jintang and Guo Hang, vice presidents of Guangzhou College of Commerce, were present at the conference. The first session of the conference was presided over by Guo Hang.

     All the participants watched the video of the 20th anniversary of the international education in Guangzhou College of Commerce. Zhang Yan extended a warm welcome to the directors of the Branch in her opening speech. She reviewed the achievements of the international education of Guangzhou College of Commerce and pointed out that under the general environment of strengthening the opening-up of education in the country, universities and colleges should serve the national strategy, expand international cooperation, and focus on the high-quality development of Sino-foreign cooperative education.

      Li Shengbing expressed his gratitude to GCC for hosting the conference and providing strong support. He pointed out that since the establishment of the Branch, the research and practice of Sino-foreign cooperation education conducted by all member units have accumulated continuously, and initial achievements have been made in personnel training, innovation of teaching concepts, scientific research cooperation, project application, theoretical and practical research of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, etc. However, the Branch still has a long way to go to fulfill its mission and development. He hoped that all member units would actively make suggestions for the development of the Branch and play important roles in further promoting Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's educational cooperation, strengthening educational cooperation and humanities exchanges with the countries in the Belt and Road Initiative, and building a new pattern of educational opening-up cooperation.

     The conference reviewed the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Branch's development, the 2021 work summary and the 2022 work plan of the Branch, the Project Management Measures of the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education, the Notice of the Application of the 2022 Project in the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education, the 2nd Academic Seminar of the Branch and the Forum (Annual Meeting) of Chinese and Foreign University Presidents, and selected the experts of the academic committee of the Branch.

    As the organizer of this conference, GCC will also take this opportunity to communicate extensively with other sister colleges and universities, show the new achievements of our international education from various angles and in all directions, earnestly fulfill the responsibilities as one of the Branch's member units, and rely on the academic exchange and cooperation platform of the Branch to strengthen the research on Sino-foreign as well as domestic and foreign cooperative education, strengthen higher education research and international exchanges and cooperation, and help the orderly and healthy development of Sino-foreign cooperative education in higher education in Guangdong Province.
